TAFT ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS

COLUMBUS (December 8, 2006) - Governor Bob Taft today announced appointments to the Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services; State Chiropractic Board; Clark State Community College Board of Trustees; State Board of Emergency Medical Services; Industrial Commission Nominating Council; Rio Grande Community College Board of Trustees; and the Terra State Community College Board of Trustees.

The Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services reviews the development of a comprehensive statewide plan for alcohol and drug addiction services, revisions of the plan and other actions taken by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. It also acts as an advisory council to the Director of the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. Members are compensated for their expenses only.

Tony Pollard, from Franklin Furnace, was appointed to the Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services for a term ending July 31, 2007, replacing Kenneth Bond, whose term expired. Mr. Pollard has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Morehead State University and a Master of Arts degree from Marshall University. Mr. Pollard is the Executive Director and CEO of Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Adams, Lawrence, and Scioto Counties.

Russ Kaye, from North Ridgeville, was appointed to the Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services for a term ending July 31, 2007, replacing John Bohley, whose term expired. Dr. Kaye has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rhode Island, a Master of Arts degree and a Doctorate degree from the University of Toledo and a Master of Business Administration degree from Tiffin University. Dr. Kaye is the Executive Director of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services for Cuyahoga County.

Robert Payne, from Cincinnati, was appointed to the Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services for a term ending July 31, 2007, replacing Sherry Knapp, whose term expired. Mr. Payne is a Chemical Dependency Counselor with Prospect House.

Brad Williams, from Medina, was appointed to the Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services for a term ending July 31, 2007, replacing Pamela Bradford, whose term expired. Dr. Williams has a Master of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado and a Doctorate degree from the University of Akron. Dr. Williams is the Executive Director of Solutions Behavioral Healthcare, Inc.

Janice Mercier, from Akron, was appointed to the Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services for a term ending July 31, 2007, replacing Ed Hughes, whose term expired. Dr. Mercier has a Bachelor of Science degree from Springfield College, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Akron and a Doctorate degree from Kennedy Western University. Dr. Mercier is with the Akron U.M.A.D.A.O.P., Inc.

Elaine Georgas, from Lorain, was appointed to the Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services for a term ending July 31, 2007, replacing Sherry Knapp-Brown, whose term expired. Ms. Georgas is a graduate of Cleveland State University. Ms. Georgas is on the Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board of Lorain County.

The State Chiropractic Board shall establish rules to govern the practice of Chiropractic medicine and shall issue licenses for the practice of Chiropractic medicine. Members are compensated $17.37 per hour plus expenses.

Anna Villarreal Jenkins, from Chillicothe, was reappointed to the State Chiropractic Board for a term ending November 2, 2010. Dr. Jenkins has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Capital University and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. Jenkins is a Chiropractor with Jenkins Chiropractic, Inc.

Richard J. Maynard, from Lancaster, was appointed to the State Chiropractic board for a term ending November 2, 2010, replacing Steven Bleser. Dr. Maynard has a Bachelor of Arts degree from New College of California and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer Chiropractic College. Dr. Maynard is a Chiropractic Physician with Eastwood Health and Wellness Center.

The Clark State Community College Board of Trustees appoints the college's administrative officers, faculty and staff. It is responsible for the oversight of the school's operations and maintenance. Members are compensated for their expenses only.

Gary Buroker, from Springfield, was reappointed to the Clark State Community College Board of Trustees for a term ending November 30, 2012. Mr. Buroker has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Bluffton College. Mr. Buroker is the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Planning for Speedway SuperAmerica LLC.

Carl Mercurio, from Beavercreek, was appointed to the Clark State Community College Board of Trustees for a term ending November 30, 2012, replacing Jennifer Baader, whose term expired. Mr. Mercurio has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University. Mr. Mercurio is the CEO of Plastic Trim.

Elise Spriggs, from Springfield, was appointed to the Clark State Community College Board of Trustees for a term ending November 30, 2012, replacing Alicia Sweet Hupp, who resigned. Ms. Spriggs has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Wittenberg University and a Juris Doctor degree from Capital University. Ms. Spriggs is Of Counsel-Government and Regulatory Practice Area for Kegler, Brown, Hill & Ritter.

The State Board of Emergency Medical Services shall prepare a plan for the statewide regulation of emergency medical services during times of disaster. It will establish an emergency medical services grant program to improve the availability, accessibility and quality of EMS services within the state. Members are compensated for their expenses only.

Mark Resanovich, from Uniontown, was reappointed to the State Board of Emergency Medical Services for a term ending November 12, 2009. Mr. Resanovich is the EMS Bureau Head and Shift Commander for the City of Green Fire Division and the EMS Coordinator for Aultman Hospital.

Carl Jordan, from Massillon, was reappointed to the State Board of Emergency Medical Services for a term ending November 12, 2009. Mr. Jordan is a Captain, Firefighter and Paramedic with the Canton City Fire Department. He is also an Apheresis Technician for Lifeshare Blood Donor Services.

Mark Marchetta, from Akron, was reappointed to the State Board of Emergency Medical Services for a term ending November 12, 2009. Mr. Marchetta received an RN degree from The Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing and he also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Medical Services from The American College of Prehospital Medicine. Mr. Marchetta is the Director of EMS Education for the Aultman Health Foundation.

Jonathan Groner, from Bexley, was reappointed to the State Board of Emergency Medical Services for a term ending November 12, 2009. Dr. Groner has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Medical degree from Northwestern University. Dr. Groner is the Trauma Medical Director for Children's Hospital, and a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health.

Daryl McNutt, from Whitehouse, was appointed to the State Board of Emergency Medical Services for a term ending November 12, 2009, replacing Raymond Walendzak, whose term expired. Mr. McNutt is a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. Mr. McNutt is the Fire Chief for the Village of Whitehouse.

Pamela Bradshaw, from Wheelersburg, was appointed to the State Board of Emergency Medical Services for a term ending November 12, 2009, replacing James Cress, whose term expired. Ms. Bradshaw received her RN degree from Ohio University and has a Master's degree in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner from Otterbein College. Ms. Bradshaw is a Paramedic for the Porter Township Emergency Association and she is the EMS Coordinator and Anatomy & Physiology Instructor at the Collins Career Center.

Michael Senter, from Lucas, was appointed to the State Board of Emergency Medical Services for a term ending November 12, 2009, replacing Timothy Jakacki, whose term expired. Mr. Senter has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Health Administration from Kennedy Western University. Mr. Senter is the Vice President of Physician Services and Business Development for the Galion Community Hospital.

The Industrial Commission Nominating Council makes recommendations to the Governor for the appointment of members to the Industrial Commission. The Nominating Committee must submit a list of three separate names for each of the seats on the Industrial Commission. Members are paid $50.00 per day plus expenses.

David Prentice, from Akron, was reappointed to the Industrial Commission Nominating Council for a term ending October 20, 2010. Mr. Prentice has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville and a Master of Arts degree from The Ohio State University. Mr. Prentice is the Midwest Region Vice President for United Steelworkers of America Local #2.

Carol Caruso, from Solon, was reappointed to the Industrial Commission Nominating Council for a term ending October 20, 2008. Ms. Caruso is a graduate of The Ohio State University. Ms. Caruso is Vice President of Advocacy for the Greater Cleveland Partnership.

Larry Phillips, from Portsmouth, was appointed to the Industrial Commission Nominating Council for a term ending October 20, 2007, replacing Lawrence Deck, who passed away. Mr. Phillips is a graduate of Shawnee State University. Mr. Phillips is President of the Ohio State Troopers Association.

Catherine Duhigg, from Broadview Heights, was appointed to the Industrial Commission Nominating Council for a term ending October 20, 2010, replacing Robert Finnessy, whose term expired. Ms. Duhigg has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Malone College. Ms. Duhigg is a Manager in Workers' Compensation for Eaton Corporation.

The Rio Grande Community College Board of Trustees shall appoint the administrative officers, faculty and staff necessary to operate the college. It shall do all things necessary to properly operate and maintain the college. Members are compensated for their expenses only.

Jon Thompson, from Cheshire, was reappointed to the Rio Grande Community College Board of Trustees for a term ending October 10, 2011. Mr. Thompson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from The Ohio State University. Mr. Thompson is President of E.T. & S., Inc. and Letart Corp.

The Terra State Community College Board of Trustees appoints the administrative officers, faculty and staff necessary to operate the college. The Board of Trustees shall do all things necessary to properly operate and maintain the college. Members are compensated for their expenses only.

Helene Zielinski, from Fremont, was reappointed to the Terra State Community College Board of Trustees for a term ending December 31, 2012. Ms. Zielinski has a Bachelor of Education degree and a Master of Education degree from the University of Toledo. Ms. Zielinski is the Vice President and Secretary of the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home.

Charles Knight, from Fostoria, was reappointed to the Terra State Community College Board of Trustees for a term ending December 31, 2012. Mr. Knight is a graduate of Heidelberg College. Mr. Knight is the owner of Knightmare Farms, Fostoria Quickprint and Camp Sandusky.

Susan Starr, from Port Clinton, was appointed to the Terra State Community College Board of Trustees for a term ending December 31, 2012, replacing Thomas Brown, whose term expired. Ms. Starr is a graduate of Miami University. Ms. Starr is currently retired. She was formerly the Senior Consulting Actuary with the Cleveland office of Watson Wyatt & Company.
