TAFT ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF GENE A. ZMUDA TO
THE LUCAS COUNTY COURT OF COMMON PLEAS

COLUMBUS (December 19, 2006) - Governor Bob Taft today announced the appointment of Gene A. Zmuda to the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas.

Gene A. Zmuda, from Toledo, was appointed to the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas for a term starting December 29, 2006, replacing Thomas Osowik, who resigned.

Judge Zmuda is currently the Administrative/Presiding Judge of the Toledo Municipal Court. He was previously a Councilman for the City of Toledo and a Partner with the law firm of Rohrbachers, Light, Cron, Zmuda, and Trimble.

Judge Zmuda was previously a Member of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, the Greater Toledo Urban League, Toledo Museum of Art Board, the Board of the Toledo Zoo and a Board Member of the Toledo Symphony. He is also a Past President of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northwest Ohio.

Judge Zmuda has a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Toledo and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toledo.
