COLUMBUS (December 20, 2006) - Governor Bob Taft today issued the following statement in response to the Ohio Legislature's passing the Ohio Core legislation requiring a more rigorous curriculum in Ohio high schools.

"Enactment of Ohio Core is a victory for the students of Ohio. They will master a more rigorous curriculum and graduate from high school well prepared for college or a good entry-level job.

"I want to express my appreciation to the legislative leaders and all the members who supported Ohio Core. They voted yes for a brighter future for Ohio's children."
