
GOVERNOR SIGNS BILLS
COLUMBUS (December 22, 2006) - Governor Bob Taft today signed the following bills, which will be filed with the Secretary of State's office.
Amended Substitute Senate Bill 5, sponsored by state Senator Jay Hottinger (R-Newark), changes rules for small business health care benefit plans. The bill goes into effect 90 days after it is signed by the Governor and filed with the Secretary of State.
Substitute Senate Bill 164, sponsored by state Senator J. Kirk Schuring (R-Canton), permits students of school districts, community schools and chartered nonpublic schools to carry epinephrine medication approved by the students' physicians and parents during school hours. The bill goes into effect 90 days after it is signed by the Governor and filed with the Secretary of State.
Substitute Senate Bill 223, sponsored by state Senator Tom Niehaus (R-New Richmond), establishes the Division of Unclaimed Funds and the position of the Division's Superintendent. The bill also establishes regulatory framework for registering persons who act as professional paid "unclaimed funds finders." The bill goes into effect 90 days after it is signed by the Governor and filed with the Secretary of State.
Substitute House Bill 83, sponsored by state Representative Jim Hughes (R-Columbus), affects rules regarding inheritance paid to third parties and allows such matters to be retrieved by a probate court. The bill goes into effect 90 days after it is signed by the Governor and filed with the Secretary of State.
