
COLUMBUS (Nov. 26, 2001) — Governor Bob Taft today announced appointments to the Accountancy Board, Ohio Cemetery Dispute Resolution Commission, State Board of Cosmetology, Counselor and Social Worker Board, Ohio Fair Plan Underwriting Association Board of Governors, Forestry Advisory Council, Oil and Gas Commission, Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission, Ohio Rail Development Commission, and Southern State Community College. The Accountancy Board sets forth rules of professional conduct to ensure the maintenance of a high standard of integrity within the accounting profession. Members are compensated $18.98 per hour, plus expenses. Albert J. Cannon, from Cincinnati, was appointed to the Accountancy Board for a term ending Oct. 20, 2008, replacing John E. Katzenmeyer, of Cleveland, whose term expired. Mr. Cannon is an assurance and advisory partner for Deloitte & Touche LLP. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Cincinnati. Ray G. Stephens, from Athens, was appointed to the Accountancy Board for a term ending Oct. 20, 2008, replacing Jerry L. Esselstein, of Columbus, whose term expired. Mr. Stephens is professor and director, school of accountancy, for Ohio University. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Georgia and his M.B.A. degree from East Carolina University. The Ohio Cemetery Dispute Resolution Commission investigates and conducts hearings on complaints relating to cemeteries. Members are compensated for expenses only. Stephen E. Bittner, from Cincinnati, was appointed to the Ohio Cemetery Dispute Resolution Commission for a term ending July 2, 2005, replacing John Carpenter, of Toledo, who resigned.
Mr. Bittner is president of the Cincinnati Catholic Cemetery Society, and owns and operates St. John, St. Mary and St. Joseph Cemeteries. Mr. Bittner attended the University of Cincinnati. The State Board of Cosmetology examines applicants for licensure, strives to ensure the better education of practitioners, and establishes rules regarding the proper conduct and sanitation of cosmetological establishments and schools. Members are compensated $19.55 per hour, plus expenses. Valeria McPherson, from Cleveland, was reappointed to the State Board of Cosmetology for a term ending Oct. 31, 2006. Ms. McPherson is a licensed cosmetologist and is currently a bailiff at the Cleveland Municipal Court. The Counselor and Social Worker Board oversees the grading of examinations of individuals applying to be a professional counselor, social worker or independent social worker and determines if an applicant is qualified for practice. Members are compensated $18.98 per hour, plus expenses. Hannah L. Dixon, from Springfield, was reappointed to the Counselor and Social Worker Board for a term ending Oct. 10, 2004. Ms. Dixon is a retired school counselor and currently serves on the Springfield City Schools Board of Education. She received her B.S. degree from The Ohio State University and her M.Ed. degree from Wittenberg University. Michael Davis, from Steubenville, was reappointed to the Counselor and Social Worker Board for a term ending Oct. 10, 2004. Mr. Davis is the executive director of Family Service Association. He received his B.A. degree from Kent State University and his M.S. degree from the University of Dayton. Theresa Cluse-Tolar, from Toledo, was appointed to the Counselor and Social Worker Board for a term ending Oct. 10, 2004, replacing Glenn Abraham, of Dayton, whose term expired. Dr. Cluse-Tolar is program director and assistant professor at the University of Toledo, and an assistant professor at Bowling Green State University. She received her B.A. degree from Ohio University and his M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree from The Ohio State University. The Ohio Fair Plan Underwriting Association Board of Governors shall provide for economical, fair and non-discriminatory administration of a program for the equitable appointment of the basic property insurance which may be afforded in urban areas to applicants whose property is insurable in accordance with the underwriting standards but, are unable to obtain insurance through normal channels. Members are not compensated. Aaren L. Stephens, from Toledo, was reappointed to the Ohio Fair Plan Underwriting Association Board of Governors for a term ending Sept. 18, 2003. Ms. Stephens is a personal insurance consultant for Knight Crockett Miller Insurance Group. She received her Ohio insurance license for property, casualty, life and health. The Forestry Advisory Council may advise and make recommendations to the chief of the division of forestry and reclamation concerning forestry and programs in the state. Members are compensated for expenses only. Thomas Manning Brown, from Port Clinton, was appointed to the Forestry Advisory Council for a term ending Feb. 28, 2005, replacing Jackson Hedges, of Lebanon, whose term expired. Mr. Brown is mayor of the City of Port Clinton. He received his B.S. degree from Rio Grande College and his M.Ed. degree from the University of Toledo. The Oil and Gas Commission shall review claims by persons who feel they have been adversely affected by an order of the chief of the division of oil and gas; and may subpoena persons to testify as witnesses in the review and may order any evidence it deems necessary to be turned over to the board. Members are compensated $18.98 per hour, plus expenses. James H. Cameron, from Zanesville, was reappointed to the Oil and Gas Commission for a term ending Oct. 14, 2006. Mr. Cameron is president of Cameron Drilling Co., Inc. He attended Marietta College. The Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission advises the attorney general on the standards and curriculum of police schools for all levels of government, and can recommend requirements on schools, instructors, training and other areas concerning the training of police officers. Members are compensated for expenses only. Vernon P. Stanforth, from Washington C.H., was reappointed to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission for a term ending Sept. 19, 2004. Mr. Stanforth is Sheriff of Fayette County. He attended Morehead State University. LaMont Lockhart, from South Euclid, was appointed to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission for a term ending Sept. 19, 2004, replacing Jeanne A. Miller, of Reynoldsburg, whose term expired. Mr. Lockhart is Chief of Woodmere Police Department. He received his B.S. degree from David N. Myers University and graduated from the FBI National Academy. The Ohio Rail Development Commission shall develop, promote, and support safe, adequate and efficient rail service throughout the state. Members are compensated for expenses only. James Betts, from Cleveland, was reappointed as Chairman to the Ohio Rail Development Commission for a term ending Oct. 20, 2007. Mr. Betts is a practicing attorney and lobbyist, and served as a state representative. He received his B.S. degree from Ohio University and his J.D. degree from Cleveland State University College of Law. The Southern State Community College shall do all things necessary for the creation, proper maintenance and successful operation of a state community college. Members are compensated for expenses only. Susan E. Dunkin-Blanton, from West Union, was appointed to the Southern State Community College for a term ending May 12, 2002, replacing G. Robert Sollars, of Wilmington, who resigned. Dr. Dunkin-Blanton is Adams County Coroner. She received her B.S. degree from Wilmington College and her M.D. degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Georgia H. Miller, from Wilmington, was appointed to the Southern State Community College for a term ending May 12, 2004, replacing William H. Robinson, of Wilmington, who resigned. Ms. Miller is a Clinton county juvenile court appointee as guardian ad litem, and a retired school teacher. She received her B.S. degree from Ohio University.
