
GOVERNOR TAFT ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS
COLUMBUS (Dec. 21, 2001) Governor Bob Taft today announced appointments to the Ohio Athletic Commission, Columbus State Community College Board of Trustees, Ethics Commission, Ohio Housing Finance Agency, State Independent Living Council, Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Foundation, Water and Sewer Commission, and Governors Workforce Policy Board.
The Ohio Athletic Commission administers and enforces the states boxing law, and collects a five percent tax on the gross proceeds from ticket sales of all events regulated by the commission. Members are compensated $18.98 per hour plus expenses.
Harry L. Stiggers, from Shaker Heights, was appointed to the Ohio Athletic Commission for a term ending Sept. 3, 2004, replacing James D. Chlovechok, M.D., of Cambridge, who resigned. Dr. Stiggers is a private practitioner for Stiggers Medical Center, owner of Chagrin Township Well Baby Clinic, and partner for Personal Physician Care of Ohio. He received his B.S. degree from Hiram College, and his D.O. degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery.
The Columbus State Community College Board of Trustees has the power to build, own, and operate a community college in their designated district, as well as set the tuition and fees for the college. It shall hire and fix the compensation of all the colleges employees and do all necessary to ensure the successful operation of the college. Members are compensated for expenses only.
William A. Antonoplos, from Columbus, was appointed to the Columbus State Community College Board of Trustees for a term ending Aug. 31, 2003, replacing Todd Clossin, of Westerville, who resigned. Mr. Antonoplos is president of Capitol Square Consulting, Inc. and attended The Ohio State University.
