
GOVERNOR TAFT ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF OLIVIA K. SUMMONS
TO THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO BOARD OF TRUSTEES
COLUMBUS (November 21, 2002) - Governor Bob Taft today announced an appointment to the University of Toledo Board of Trustees.
The University of Toledo Board of Trustees shall have the authority to employ, fix the compensation of, and remove employees, and shall do all necessary to maintain the successful operation of the university. Members are compensated for expenses only.
Olivia K. Summons, of Toledo, was appointed to the University of Toledo Board of Trustees for a term ending July 1, 2010, replacing Rhonda Brooks, of Sylvania, who resigned.
Mrs. Summons is director of public affairs for Sunoco's Toledo Refinery. Sunoco is a leading manufacturer and marketer of petroleum and petrochemical products. Prior to joining Sunoco, Mrs. Summons served as president of the Corporation for Effective Government (CEG), and before that she gained her expertise as an event coordinator for the Greater Toledo Marketing Group and as community relations' supervisor for Toledo Edison Company.
Mrs. Summons has been an active part of the Toledo community. She is currently serving on the boards of ProMedica Health System, Ohio Educational Telecommunications Network Commission, Toledo Public Schools Reform Committee, Toledo Zoological Society, the University of Toledo Foundation, the Stranahan Foundation Trust, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Toledo.
She received her B.A. degree in English Literature from Northwestern University.
