
GOVERNOR TAFT ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS
COLUMBUS (December 17, 2002) - Governor Bob Taft today announced appointments to the Accountancy Board, Ohio Arts and Sports Facilities Commission, Environmental Education Council, State Fire Commission, Great Lakes Protection Fund Board, Kent State University Board of Trustees, State Board of Landscape Architect Examiners, Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission, and State Board of Psychology.
The Accountancy Board sets forth rules of professional conduct to ensure the maintenance of a high standard of integrity within the accounting profession. Members are compensated $18.98 per hour, plus expenses.
Ajay Taneja, from Solon, was appointed to the Accountancy Board for a term ending October 20, 2009, replacing Elizabeth D. Plotrick, of Columbus, whose term expired. Mr. Taneja is director of corporate business development for Lubrizol Corporation. He received his M.B.A. degree from Cleveland State University.
Robert E. Shenton, from Columbus, was appointed to the Accountancy Board for a term ending October 20, 2009, replacing Manohar L. Daga, of Cleveland, whose term expired. Mr. Shenton is the central Ohio office managing partner for Plante & Moran. He received his B.A. degree from Albion College.
The Ohio Arts and Sports Facilities Commission shall engage in and provide for the development, performance, and presentation of the arts and professional sports and athletics to the public in this state by the exercise of its power, including the provisions, operation, management and cooperative use of Ohio arts facilities and Ohio sports facilities. Members are not compensated.
Mark LaPlace, from Columbus, was reappointed to the Ohio Arts and Sports Facilities Commission for a term ending December 31, 2005. Mr. LaPlace is a tax partner for Groner, Boyle & Quillan, LLP. He is a graduate of Cleveland State University.
Barbara S. Robinson, from Cleveland, was reappointed to the Ohio Arts and Sports Facilities Commission for a term ending December 31, 2005. Ms. Robinson is chair emeritus of the Ohio Arts Council. She graduated from Wellesley College and from the Harvard-Radcliffe Program in Business Administration.
The Environmental Education Council advises and assists the director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency in the implementation and administration of the environmental education fund. Members are compensated for expenses only.
Frances Beasley, from Columbus, was reappointed to the Environmental Education Council for a term ending October 1, 2004. Dr. Beasley is senior project coordinator for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission. She received her B.A. degree, M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree from The Ohio State University.
Sally Banfield, from Mt. Perry, was reappointed to the Environmental Education Council for a term ending October 1, 2004. Ms. Banfield is a teacher at Northern Local School District in Perry County. She received her B.S. degree and M.S. degree from Ohio University.
Richard L. Shank, from Powell, was appointed to the Environmental Education Council for a term ending October 1, 2004, replacing Bruce Cornett, of Yellow Springs, whose term expired. Dr. Shank is executive director of the Ohio Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. He received his B.S. degree, his M.S. degree and his Ph.D. degree from The Ohio State University.
The State Fire Commission may recommend courses of action to be taken by the Fire Marshall in carrying out his duties. Members are compensated $18.98 per hour, plus expenses.
Elise Spriggs, from London, was appointed to the State Fire Commission for a term ending October 31, 2003, replacing Joe Secrest, of Cambridge, who resigned. Ms. Spriggs is associate director of the Ohio Petroleum Council. She received her B.A. degree from Wittenberg University and her J.D. degree from Capital University Law School.
The Great Lakes Protection Fund Board is a regional trust fund established by the great lakes states to advance the principles, goals, and objectives of the great lakes toxic substances control agreement and the great lakes water quality agreement. Members are compensated for expenses only.
Jeffrey M. Reutter, from Columbus, was reappointed to the Great Lakes Protection Fund Board for a term ending October 11, 2004. Dr. Reutter is director of the Franz Theodore Stone Laboratory at The Ohio State University and director of the Ohio Sea Grant College Program at The Ohio State University. He received his B.S. degree, his M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree from The Ohio State University.
The Kent State University Board of Trustees shall hire, fix the compensation of, such employees as may be deemed necessary, and shall do all things to ensure that the university is properly maintained and operates on a successful and continuous basis.
Jason R. Loree, from Youngstown, was appointed as a student representative to the Kent State University Board of Trustees for a term ending May 16, 2004, replacing Andrea K. Poliak, whose term expired. Mr. Loree is a political science major at Kent State University. He is a resident assistant for the Department of Residence Services at Kent State University.
The State Board of Landscape Architect Examiners shall adopt, modify, and enforce rules governing the standards for education, experience, services, conduct and practice to be followed by the profession. Members are compensated $18.98 per hour, plus expenses.
Walter Roch Von Rochsburg, from Columbus, was reappointed to the State Board of Landscape Architect Examiners for a term ending November 10, 2007. Mr. Roch Von Rochsburg is a self-employed landscape architect. He received his B.A. degree from The Ohio State University.
The Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission advises the attorney general on the standards and curriculum of police schools for all levels of government. Members are compensated expenses only.
Gerald Mack, from Cleveland, was appointed to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission for a term ending September 19, 2005, replacing Robert Burnham, of Cincinnati, whose term expired. Mr. Mack is special agent in charge of the FBI, Cleveland Office. He received his B.S. degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College and his M.A. degree from North Carolina State University.
The State Board of Psychology shall license all persons who desire to engage in the practice of psychology in Ohio. Members are compensated $18.98 per hour, plus expenses.
Kevin D. Arnold, from Galena, was appointed to the State Board of Psychology for a term ending October 5, 2003, replacing Jeff Sherill, of Columbus, who resigned. Dr. Arnold is director of the American Board of Behavioral Psychology and President of the American Academy of Behavior Psychology.
