GOVERNORS TAFT AND BUSH MAKE FIESTA BOWL WAGER
Loser to Don Opponent's Jersey

COLUMBUS (December 20, 2002) - Ohio Governor Bob Taft and Florida Governor Jeb Bush today announced that they have made a friendly wager on the college football national championship game between the University of Miami Hurricanes and The Ohio State University Buckeyes.

The Governor representing the losing team will wear the other team's jersey at a National Governor's Association plenary session in February.

"I think Governor Bush will look very good in scarlet and gray," Taft said. "All Ohioans know who is the best team in the country. I can't wait for Governor Bush to show all the other governors that the Buckeyes are #1."

"It is an embarrassment of riches for our state to have a national championship contender almost every year," Bush said. "I am pleased Governor Taft is willing to help us celebrate this year's triumph by the Hurricanes."

The undefeated Buckeyes won a school-record 13 games this season and are ranked second in the country. The defending-champion Hurricanes are the top-ranked team in the nation at 12-0 and have won 34 consecutive games.

The college football national championship will be determined in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Tempe, Arizona on January 3, 2003. Taft is planning to attend the event.
