Purpose: To assist individuals with disabilities or families with a member who has a disability.

1. Obtain a mortgage loan to purchase a home.
2. Evaluate the feasibility of home ownership.
3. Learn about financing options, rights and responsibilities associated with home ownership.
4. Locate down payment assistance programs in their localities.
5. Secure or finance home modifications to enhance accessibility.

Union Savings Bank will:

1. Conduct home ownership seminars throughout the state designed to educate individuals with disabilities and local agencies about loan programs, rights and responsibilities associated with home ownership.
2. Assist individuals complete the loan application process.
3. Maintain a "Home ownership hot line" to answer questions relative to home ownership and financing.
4. Make an effort through conventional and government loan programs to obtain the best loan program for individual applicants.

Home Ownership Seminars will cover the following topics:

1. How to evaluate the benefits and risks of home ownership.
2. How to gather necessary information for a loan application.
3. Features and benefits of various loan programs.
4. How to establish and maintain a positive credit history.
5. How to budget for home ownership.
6. The steps in the home buying process.

Home ownership seminars will be conducted by USB staff and include local real estate, title, insurance and legal professions.
