Purpose: To assist individuals with disabilities or families with a member who has a disability.
- Obtain a mortgage loan to purchase a home.
- Evaluate the feasibility of home ownership.
- Learn about financing options, rights and responsibilities associated with home ownership.
- Locate down payment assistance programs in their localities.
- Secure or finance home modifications to enhance accessibility.
Union Savings Bank will:
- Conduct home ownership seminars throughout the state designed to educate individuals with disabilities and local agencies about loan programs, rights and responsibilities associated with home ownership.
- Assist individuals complete the loan application process.
- Maintain a "Home ownership hot line" to answer questions relative to home ownership and financing.
- Make an effort through conventional and government loan programs to obtain the best loan program for individual applicants.
Home Ownership Seminars will cover the following topics:
- How to evaluate the benefits and risks of home ownership.
- How to gather necessary information for a loan application.
- Features and benefits of various loan programs.
- How to establish and maintain a positive credit history.
- How to budget for home ownership.
- The steps in the home buying process.
Home ownership seminars will be conducted by USB staff and include local real estate, title, insurance and legal professions.
