Medicaid in Schools Program fact sheet
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) has issued a fact sheet about the Medicaid in Schools Program (MSP). MSP provides federal Medicaid reimbursement to school districts for many of the same services that were once provided by CAFS (Community Alternative Funding System). The program is a collaboration between ODJFS (Ohio's Medicaid agency) and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) that allows schools, with parents' consent, to request reimbursement from Medicaid for certain services identified on the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). According to the ODJFS, the fact sheet "was developed to allay concerns about the Ohio Home Care and Transitions MRDD waivers and the ability for children to receive nursing services in school."
If you have questions or if your child's nursing services change due to MSP and you do not agree with the change, please contact the Ohio Legal Rights Service Intake Department at 614-466-7264 or 800-282-9181; TTY 614-728-2553 or 800-858-3542.
